What Makes AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico Special?
Grand Slam Mexico is no ordinary weekly AEW Dynamite episode. It is yet another great international achievement for the company and a tribute to the history of Mexican lucha libre.
Arena Mxico has often been called the best wrestling venue in the world and an AEW show there will bring American wrestling to the land of Mexican lucha libre, a mash-up of styles, and an eclectic mix of lucha, technical, high-flying, hard-hitting, and storytelling-on one card.
The event also enables the world famous mega-stars to perform live in front of perhaps the most ardent wrestling fans in the world giving it an atmosphere that cannot be created on the weekly TV shows.

Main Events to Watch
A few matches have been flagged up as the big draws of the night.
This match means a great deal emotionally. Because of their history, this isn’t just any regular singles match, and the no-disqualification stipulation ensures the two fighters can confront the final of their long-standing grudge.
The AEW International Championship fight is also a highlight. With Kyle Fletcher now a confident champion, he’ll certainly bring his top game to this bout but Mike Bailey can be a wild card and create an incredible match.
Another match in the AEW World Trios Championship race is compelling as well. Hangman Adam Page, Bandido, and Brody King represent a perfect blend of styles all rolled into a vicious team that can go toe-to-toe with the champions.
Championship Stakes Add Extra Excitement
The championship games just make this even more relevant because all a victory can do would change the whole division.
Kyle Fletcher arrives in with momentum and belief but the world has seen how good Mike Bailey can be when facing top quality. A win for Fletcher helps to continue his strong reign as champion but an upset win would send the entire International Championship scene on a different course.
The World Tríos Championship match is just as crucial. Securing the championship belt can easily lead to new feuds and potential for every team member.
These championship matches guarantee that each huge moment has a lifetime impact that extends past just one episode of Dynamite.
International Stars Share the Spotlight
Grand Slam Mexico (GSMX) is excellent because they have a wide variety of players.
Known AEW wrestlers are now competing with other worldwide respected wrestlers for making different matches that are very hard to see elsewhere. In addition to American style wrestling, Japanese style wrestling, British style wrestling, and Mexican style wrestling they belong to, have more style coming from their own.
This global mix maintains the element of surprise for the program and also emphasizes AEW’s intention to present the best talent from all of wrestling.
Fans will witness technical exchanges, high flying offense, hard hitting contest, and inventive sequences that draw upon various kinds of wrestling styles.
Rivalries That Could Change After Tonight
This event is also a milestone in many of the continued rivalries.
The clash of Death Riders and others carries on one of the most exciting clash of factions in AEW. Each win or loss will have implications for momentum leading to upcoming big events.
Will Ospreay and Mark Davis rehash an old rivalry that has encompassed respect, competition, and personal antagonism. Their Street Fight gives both men the chance to finally resolve things.
Meanwhile, women’s division continues to grow with hard-working veterans and up and coming women fighting for valuable momentum to garner the next championship shot.
All these storylines make each match worthwhile instead of just throwing a match on the card.
Why Fans Should Watch This Episode
Grand Slam Mexico is the perfect blend of title fights, personal feuds, top ranked fighters from around the globe and an exceptional location in one huge event.
Compared to a regular weekly wrestling program, 11 out of 11 matches on this card set up the next AEW television show in some way. Wrestling for the titles, faction wars, personal vendettas, shot at a title-all of those come into play on this night.
The crowd at Arena Mxico is going to make every single match feel like a huge deal, with a feeling in the air that is going to make it seem like you’re watching something unlike everything else AEW puts on your screen.
A great event for longtime fans with some important story progression, but also a perfect place for newcomers to get an overview of AEW’s roster and go in fast pace style.
What to Expect Before the Final Bell
It all comes into much clearer focus for AEW leading up to the company’s next huge shows after Grand Slam Mexico. Who will fight for the title? Who will forge new rivalries? What shocking twists will make their way into all of the divisions?
Looking to win their first AEW title and have fierce rivalries go to war, with multiple stars set to battle across the card, this is lining up to be one of the most significant AEW Dynamite episodes in recent memory.
Fan should be prepared to witness over the top, melodramatic entrances, intense match ups, an epic saga, and memorable moments that will resonate through AEW programming months after the show. There is something on the line in each match, making Grand Slam Mexico something no fan will want to miss.

Complete Match Results
Death Riders Defeat Copeland, Christian Cage and The Young Bucks
The first multi-man tag match got things heating up at Arena Mxico.
Momentum swung back and forth between the two sides during the match, which included a lot of quick-paced action and hard hitting action. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage showed a flash of their veteran partnership, while The Young Bucks demonstrated their usual high octane offense.
However, the Death Riders showed once more why they are still one of AEW’s most treacherous groups. Jon Moxley used the confusion to take the win, adding yet another significant win for his team to their narrative.
Their win only strengthens the group’s grip on the show going forward.
Andrade El Idolo Earns a Huge Opportunity
The names Andrade El Idolo, Tommaso Ciampa and Komander in a Triple Threat match-delivered just what we knew it would.
All six of the participants showcased a different wresting style which made for a great, fun match. Komander was doing a lot of high flying moves while Ciampa was being a brawling pain and dominating with his offense.
With the very last seconds of the match, Andrade knew he got the opening he was searching for to win and get No 1 entry for the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In.
The celebration didn’t last long.
Former world champion MJF returned unexpectedly right after the match and attacked Andrade. This was one of the best moments of the night, and laid down the foundation for an interesting story to follow.
Persephone Picks Up a Controversial Victory
Kris Statlander versus Persephone women’s singles match led to an awesome opening.
If you make a few errors or have a moment where you slip up, the match could suddenly go into a totally different direction due to outside interference, and Statlander looked like she was going to do just that on numerous occasions-before the match was completely derailed by the interference.
It was enough of a distraction for Statlander to leave herself open to the impressive Persephone. Hikaru Shida distracts Statlander allowing Persephone to take her down and claim the win.
So make what you want of that conclusion. It could mean the heated rivalry is not over and could continue in the following weeks.
Willow Nightingale’s Team Scores an Important Win
During the six-women tag team match there was never a dull moment, as you never knew which way the momentum was about to turn..
Mercedes Mon and her teammates maintained extended runs of the contest with selective teamwork and rapid-fire tags.
While that advantage, the following was fought back by the team with great tenacity to eventually win:
The result certainly leaves Willow with momentum ahead of the further open up of the women’s divsion.
Kyle Fletcher Retains the AEW International Championship
Among the standouts was one of the best matches of the night as Kyle Fletcher put the AEW International Championship on the line against Mike Bailey.
Both competitors came with high energy and delivered a great mix of technical wrestling, striking, counters and amazing athleticism.
Defeating Bailey at nearly every turn, Fletcher managed to hold onto his championship.
The buzz didn’t stop once the match was over as Kazuchika Okada was in the ring staring down the champion indicating that this could be a huge Championship program that could turn into one of AEW’s biggest rivalries.
Chris Jericho, Darby Allin and Mstico Earn the Victory
The veteran Chris Jericho, the youthful Darby Allin, and the high risk Mstico took it to the Don Callis Family with great experience, high speed and high flying offense.
All of the competitors had chances to shine, Mstico drew among the loudest crowd reactions of the evening.
Both teams fought a grueling, competitive match that saw several back-and-forth lead changes before Jericho’s team emerged victorious. They received a warm reception from the Mexico City crowd as they celebrated
New AEW World Trios Champions Crowned
Massive AEW championship changes occurred when Hangman Adam Page, Bandido and Brody King went against for the AEW World Trios Championship.
Power + athleticism + teamwork = too much for defending champions.
Following a hard earned victory, Hangman Page and his group secured the AEW World Trios Title which resulted in one of the biggest celebrations of the night.
Winning both belts is instantly what puts the new tag team in the upper echelon of attractions in the run into AEW TV.
Will Ospreay Wins the Street Fight Main Event
The show’s opener saw the highly anticipated Street Fight for the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag-Team Championship belt. This is between Will Ospreay and Mark Davis.
Lack of disqualifications, both men used the environment and each other to give us one of the most physical matches on this year’s edition of Dyanmite.
Wrestling, the heavy hitting moves, the wild near falls, the passionate storytelling all contributed to a great night of entertainment until the very end.
After a hard fought match, Ospreay overcame Davis to end the show with a big win that helps build momentum for future big matches.
Biggest Moments From the Show
There were a number of things that caught my attention apart from the scorelines.
MJF’s unexpected return has quickly become one of the hot topics of the evening. That assault on Andrade looks set to kick off a heated rivalry.
Josh Thomas: Another title change at the event was Hangman Adam Page, Bandido and Brody King becoming the new AEW World Trios Champions.
Kyle Fletcher was able to hold onto his title before being interrupted by Kazuchika Okada, setting up what many fans have called for, a huge championship match.
The passionate supporters in Mexico City were also instrumental during the TV coverage, creating a unique and memorable feeling in each of the key matches.
What’s Next After AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico?
The path to AEW’s next big show was pretty much laid out after Grand Slam Mexico.
MJF back on the scene opens up fresh storyline opportunities right away, and two feuds with fresh beginnings in Andrade and the Gauntlet goes on with fresh momentum after his own assault.
The new World Trios Champions now have new challengers to beat in the form of the challengers who will now look to win the titles, meanwhile Kyle Fletcher will no doubt face his toughest championship defense if Okada is serious about winning the titles.
However, Will Ospreay’s Street Fight win also ensures he remains in the top tier of AEW stars as the promotion ramp ups towards its next pay-per-view.
In an eventful episode of AEW Dynamite, the promotion introduced new stars, brought back some familiar faces, sparked significant new rivalries, and set up future championship matches across several weight classes. Overall, Grand Slam Mexico was an exciting chapter in the series, and viewers were sure to have even more exciting entertainment to anticipate in the near future.
